The threat to cyber security is growing everyday, along with the growth in the use of information and communication technologies. The 16th ICT conference organized by the Federation of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) and Internet Society (ISOC) Nepal started today in Kathmandu to discuss the challenges of and solutions to cyber security threats for developing economies.
Inaugurated by the Information and Communication Minister Mr. Sherdhan Rai, the conference hosted a series of prominent speakers from the USA, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Dr. Richard Lamb, Sr. Program Manager, ICANN, gave a keynote speech on Cyber Opportunities highlighting the need of coordination among the stakeholders in the forthcoming wave of Internet of Things (IoT).
The conference discussed Critical Infrastructure and Protection; Combating Cyber Security incidents in Nepal; Security of E-enabled Services and Applications and Surveillance and Privacy. Cyber security experts and professionals from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh participated in a panel discussion to discuss cyber security incidents in South Asia and developing regional collaboration.
The conference will conclude tomorrow with two more sessions followed by a panel discussion on Cyber Attacks in Financial Infrastructure in Nepal.
