About ICAC

Background & Rationale

As Nepal advances toward its vision of “Digital Nepal,” the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity has become a national strategic priority. With the endorsement of the National AI Policy 2025 (2082 BS) and the National Cybersecurity Policy 2023, Nepal is at a decisive stage where policy must translate into practical implementation.

Artificial Intelligence, particularly machine learning and data-driven systems, has the potential to transform agriculture, fintech, healthcare diagnostics, governance, and digital service delivery. However, increasing incidents of digital banking fraud, cyberattacks, data breaches, and social engineering threats highlight the urgent need to strengthen Nepal’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

This conference aims to serve as a national knowledge platform, connecting global expertise with Nepal’s local realities. It will create a structured dialogue among policymakers, academia, industry leaders, startups, students, and international experts to co-develop a secure, ethical, and innovation-driven digital ecosystem.

The conference aims to:

Conference Structure

As the event is a one-day conference, the structure will be designed to manage time effectively while ensuring high-quality engagement.

A formal Call for Papers will be announced. Papers will be reviewed by the Technical Committee and categorized into three tracks. Due to time limitations, presentations will be strictly time-bound. Parallel mini-tracks may be considered depending on paper volume and venue capacity.

ICAC 2026 invites researchers, students, startups, institutions, technology companies, government agencies, and professional communities to submit session proposals and presentation ideas.

Participants may propose research presentations, product showcases, startup pitches, workshops, tutorials, policy dialogues, and expert sessions in AI, cybersecurity, governance, and digital innovation.

AI, IoT and 5G: Shaping Nepal’s Digital Future

Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha is a distinguished academic, researcher, and technology expert with over 23 years of experience in teaching, research, and industry. He serves as a Member of the National Planning Commission and a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kathmandu University, where he also leads the IoT Research and Development Lab. He has held several senior positions, including Technical Director at Nepal Television, Principal at Nepal College of Information Technology, Individual Consultant at the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, and Vice President of Information Security Response Team Nepal. A Senior Member of IEEE and holder of multiple patents, his research focuses on the Internet of Things, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
